Examples of Movie Reviews

Hi everyone!

Here are some wonderful examples from some of your classmates of a movie review. I hope it helps you and gives you some ideas :)

Hotel Transylvania by Teresa Medina

Once upon a time 2 vampires married. They were very happy. They were called Dracula and Ms. Dracula. They had a baby called Mabie. After that, the humans killed Ms. Dracula. Later, Dracula promised Ms. Dracula that he was going to construct a safe place for Mabie where humans can't enter. This place was called Hotel Transylvania.

118 years later, it was Mabie's birthday and a human enters the hotel. Any monsters in the hotel know that there was a boy in the hotel. Mabie was in love with the human, but she didn't know that her boyfriend was a real boy. Finally, all the monsters liked him and Mabie married the human. It's an animated film with some comedy parts.

Yogi Bear by Enrique Coronaro Peliez

Yogi Bear is an animated film. In this film, Yogi Bear lives with his best friend Boo-Boo in Jellystone Park. They like stealing food from the campers of Jellystone Park. Yogi Bear invents a machine called 'Choricestas 2000'. Then they steal more picnics than before, and the sherif gets angrier too. Jellystone Park will be closed, and then the sherif and Yogi Bear along with Boo-Boo organise a picnic with lots of people to raise money. At this picnic, everything was going well until Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo set Jellystone on fire accidentally. The Sherif was dismissed of his work. At the end they save Jellystone Park and the sherif came back to his work.

I like this film because it is very funny in general, and the characters are very funny too. I like it also because this film was the first one that I watched in 3D at the cinema.

Ice Age 4 by Paloma

This film is very funny because the characters are always saying silly things. The main characters are: Manny, Ellie, Peaches, Sid, Diego and the grandmother of Sid. The argument begins when the continents separate. Then Manny, Sid, Diego and the grandmother of Sid go to the sea on an iceberg without Ellie and Peaches. When they are on the sea, Manny and Diego see another iceberg that is like a pirate ship. While they are fighting, many funny things occur: A pirate who is a sea lion falls into the water shouting 'Drown!' The captain slaps him and says 'didn't you realise that you are an aquatic animal!' and then the sea lion starts to swim saying 'it's true!'

Songs with the present perfect

Here are the two songs we have been listening to to help us practise the present perfect tense

U2 - Still haven´t found what I´m looking for

Queen - We are the champions

Here is how we form the present perfect:

I have + past participle (I have sung)
You have + past participle (You have played)
He/she/it has + past participle (He has been)
We have + past participle (We have read)
You (plural) have + past participle (You have seen)
They have + past participle (They have talked)

And here is how we contract the subject and the verb:

I have = I´ve
You have = You´ve
He has = He´s
She has = She´s
It has = It´s
We have = We´ve
They have = They´ve
REMEMBER: you can only contract the verb in a sentence; you can´t say I´ve/You´ve/He´s/etc in a question.

PALACIO REAL

A summary of Oliver Twist

Oliver was a poor boy.  He lived in an orphanage called a workhouse.  When he was born, his mother died.
One day, he deecided to ask for some more porridge, and the general locked him up in a dark room for the entire day.  In the morning, he was taken to another place.  He was locked up again and so he decided to run away to London.  Then he met a boy who said to him that he can live happily with him.  Oliver accepted, and went to the theives´ refuge.  He didn´t know that they were theives.  When Oliver was in bed, he saw Fagin, the master of the theives, open a box of jewellery.  Fagin taught him to steal, telling him that is a game.  The police accuse him of stealing but the man who owns the bookstore said that he didn´t steal anything.  Again he was locked in a house with only a small window.  The theives tried to force him to steal again,  In the end they were able to arrest the theives and Fagin was hung.
Oliver was free and he could look for happiness.

More writings about the City Council

On Wednesday, my class visited the City Council.  First, we played for 4 minutes in a square.  Then we met our guide Mercedes.  Next, we entered to City Council and we sat down in a very comfortable benches, Mercedes explained to us the space betweened the benches was, a long time ago, a type of ´garage´ for the carriages.  Later, we saw some beautiful tapestries of the Troyans and the Greeks figihting in the war of Troy.  After that, we saw beautiful ceiling with stained glass windows in beautiful colours.  This ceiling was in the baroque style.  Finally, we sat down in the journalists´ seats in the Saol de Plenos, a room where the parties talk about the economy of Spain, what we can do to have a clean city etc.
There were lots of paintings.
The visit to the City Council was amazing and I learned many things.  My favourite thing was the Salon de Plenos.
- Teresa, 5D

First of all, the guide showed us the entrance of the City Hall.  It has got 3 flags; the Spanish flag, the flag of the Community of Madrid and the City of Madrid´s flag.  In the entrance was a room where the petitions were filed.  Sara said it was like a 6YM.  Then a statue that used to be in a fountain.  Then there was another where where the room was covered in stained glass windows with picturesa of the Toledo fountain and Alcala Gate.  After that, we went to a room where they used to make new rules.  We sat in the seats.  They were very comfortable.  Finally with saw a room with the paintings of Goya and there was a very big chandelier made of glass.  It was a very good day.
